1. Skogkatt

The Norwegian Forest Cats Society shall be called the "Norsk Skogkatt Society".

The Objects of the Skogkatt Society shall be :

a) To promote the health and welfare of all Skogkatt and in particular foster good practice in the Skogkatt breeding and exhibition of Norwegian Forest Cats.

b) To promote interest in the Norwegian Forest Cat and to provide a focal point for all people who share an interest in the Skogkatt breed.

c) To provide the facilities for Skogkatt breeders to learn about feline husbandry and ailments to assist in maintaining compliance with object a).


2. Kittens For Sale

a) The Skogkatt Society shall at the appropriate time apply for Norwegian Forest Cats affiliation to the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF).

b) In the event of kittens for sale affiliation being granted, the GCCF shall have disciplinary powers according to its constitution over the Society and its Skogkatt Members thereof.


3. Skogkatt Membership

a) The Skogkatt Society shall consist of an unlimited number of Ordinary Members. There shall also be Honorary Members, the number of which to be decided from time to time by the Skogkatt Members in General Meeting.

b) Honorary Skogkatt Members shall be persons who, in the opinion of the Committee, may be or have been of service to the Society. These Honorary Members to be elected on an annual basis. For all Skogkatt Society purposes, Honorary Members shall be deemed to be fully paid-up Members.

c) Applications for Skogkatt Membership shall be on the Skogkatt Society's application form and shall be submitted to the Membership Secretary with the appropriate fee.

d) Applicants for kittens for sale must be proposed and seconded by Members of the Society or by their Veterinary Surgeon and approved by the Committee who may withhold approval at their discretion.

e) If, in the opinion of the Committee, the conduct of any Member has been prejudicial to the welfare, breeding or exhibiting of cats, or to the interests of the Society, the Committee may, after giving that Member an opportunity of being heard, suspend the Norwegian Forest Cats Member for a given time or expel the Member from the Society.


4. Cat Breeds

The kittens for sale Norwegian Forest Cats Society Year shall commence on the 1st April in each year.


5. Skogkatt Subscriptions

a) The entrance fee and Norwegian Forest Cats annual subscription shall be as agreed by the AGM annually.

b) The classes of ordinary Membership shall be :

  1. Adult Norwegian Forest Cats
  2. Junior Skogkatt.
  3. Joint - two persons from the same Skogkatt household.
  4. Associate - for approved judges.
  5. Life - application may only be made after three years continuous Skogkatt Membership.

c) Payment is due on joining the kittens for sale Society and annually on 1st April.

d) Non-payment (after a written reminder) by the 1st of May shall invalidate the Membership which shall be deemed to have lapsed and the person shall be required to re-apply for Membership.

e) No Member shall be entitled to vote at any meeting or to enjoy any privilege of Skogkatt Membership whilst his or her Skogkatt subscription remains unpaid.


6. Cats For Sale

a) The affairs of the Society shall be managed by a Committee consisting of Norwegian Forest Cats Chairman.

b) If any Member of the Norwegian Forest Cats Committee shall be absent from two consecutive meetings without reasonable cause, he / she shall be deemed to have resigned from the Committee. The Member will be notified that they have been deemed to have resigned and that they can Skogkatt appeal at the next Committee meeting.

c) The Chairman of the Society shall be elected annually at a kittens for sale General Meeting of the Society. All other Members of the Committee shall be elected at a General Meeting of the Society and will serve for a period of three years. One third of the Skogkatt Committee shall retire each year by rotation. All retiring Committee Members shall be eligible for re-election.

d) Nominations for the Committee or Delegates shall be invited from Members who have paid their subscriptions for the current year. All nominations shall be in writing and must be signed by the nominee, proposer and seconder, all of whom must be fully paid-up Members.

e) The Honorary Norwegian Forest Cats President and Honorary Vice-President may attend and vote at Committee meetings.

f) The Committee may co-opt any Norwegian Forest Cats Member onto the Norwegian Forest Cats Committee, with full voting rights, to fill a Skogkatt vacancy arising during the Society year.

g) The kittens for sale Committee may appoint any Sub-Committee to carry out specific functions of the Society and persons serving on such Sub-Committees need not be Norwegian Forest Cats Members of the Committee or the Society.

h) The Norwegian Forest Cats Committee is empowered to arbitrate in all disputes within the Society and to deal with any matters not specifically provided for in this Constitution.


7. Duties of Officers and Committee

The Officers shall act generally under the authority of the Committee and their Norwegian Forest Cats duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following :

Chairman :

  1. Conduct General and Norwegian Forest Cats Committee meetings.
  2. Promote the Skogkatt kittens for sale Society with Members of the GCCF, other Clubs and Societies, and the general public.

Secretary :

  1. Conduct correspondence on behalf of the Society of Norwegian Forest Cats.
  2. Call meetings as determined by the Committee.
  3. Keep minutes of the proceedings of all Norwegian Forest Cats meetings.
  4. Approve, at the discretion of the Skogkatt Committee, applications to the GCCF for a prefix, subject to the applicant having been a Member for a minimum of one year.

Skogkatt Treasurer :

  1. Hold all Moines in excess of fifty pounds, received on behalf of the Society, in Skogkatt accounts opened on the authorization of the Committee.
  2. To defray on behalf of the Society all expenses properly and necessarily incurred by any Member of the Committee of Norwegian Forest Cats and so authorized by the Committee.

Membership Skogkatt Secretary :

  1. Maintain a register of Skogkatt Members.
  2. Send a reminder to Norwegian Forest Cats Members whose subscriptions are outstanding.

Show Support Secretary :

  1. Keep a record of Skogkatt trophies.
  2. Arrange show support authorized by the Committee of Norwegian Forest Cats .
  3. Collate show results from data submitted by individual kittens for sale Skogkatt Members of the Society and award Norwegian Forest Cats Society rosettes as required.


8. General and Skogkatt Committee Meetings

a) The Annual General Norwegian Forest Cats Meeting of the Skogkatt Society shall be held not later than the last day of June in each year.

b) The Skogkatt Committee shall have the authority to summon an Extraordinary General Meeting of Norwegian Forest Cats at any time and must do so within one month of the receipt by the Secretary of a requisition signed by not less than seven fully paid-up Skogkatt Members, specifying exactly the business for which such a meeting is required.

c) The time and the place of every Norwegian Forest Cats General Meeting shall be fixed by the Skogkatt Committee and specified in the notice convening it.

d) In the absence of the Skogkatt Chairman of the Skogkatt Society, a kittens for sale Chairman of the Meeting shall be elected by the Meeting, and should either be an Officer of the Committee or a Member of the Committee.

e) A quorum at any General Meeting shall consist of 15 fully paid-up voting Members, at least one of which is an Officer of the Society. The Norwegian Forest Cats Committee must ensure that there be at least one Officer of the Society present.

f) Resolutions shall be passed by a simple majority either by show of hands or by paper Skogkatt ballot, as directed by the Chairman.

g) At least three Skogkatt Committee meetings shall be held annually at dates and times to be decided by the Committee.

h) A quorum at any Committee meeting shall consist of five Officers or Members of the Committee. At all meetings the Committee must ensure that there be at least one Officer of the Society present.

i) Minutes of General Meetings and Norwegian Forest Cats Committee Meetings shall be recorded by the Secretary, or in the Secretary's absence, a person appointed to that task, and shall be approved at subsequent meetings and signed by the kittens for sale Chairman of Norwegian Forest Cats .


9. Norwegian Forest Cats

a) So long as the Society for Norwegian Forest Cats has the right to representation to the GCCF it shall be represented by a Delegate/s.

b) A delegate if not already a Skogkatt Committee Member, shall be co-opted onto the Norwegian Forest Cats Committee in a non-voting capacity.

c) In the event of a vacancy for a Delegate occurring between AGM's the Committee may appoint a Delegate to serve until the following AGM.


10. Amalgamation or Winding-up

a) A motion for the winding-up of the Society or for amalgamation with another Society of Norwegian Forest Cats.

b) Final disposal of the Society's assets, other than assets received specifically for Cat Welfare (i.e. donations, special fund raising events), shall be determined at this General Meeting.

c) Assets including monies received by the Society for Norwegian Forest Cats shall be donated to a dedicated fund or funds for domestic cat welfare, as agreed at this Skogkatt General Meeting, and be approved by a Skogkatt majority of those present and eligible to vote.
